Here's an
Excerpt from The Handiwork Clash
How
beautiful it now looked from high in the sky with gleaming wonders, so
inviting. From hovering above, it really looked like the
people
of the village had been busy taking care of their village and making it
not only livable but also beautiful.
As the fairy was descending
from the sky to the village her smile turned to a frown then turned to
a pure and total look of absolute shock. The look
of
absolute shock turned into horror as she skidded to a halt in midair,
hanging there suspended in motion with wide open eyes and a jaw dropped
in disbelief.
There were no people busy caring for their
part of the planet. There were no improvements in the living
conditions. There were no beautiful new creations.
Instead
there lay crushed, stomped, broken and shattered dreams of handiwork in
smithereens that littered the land below. The last embers of
light quickly being extinguished, hope being demolished.
“Can
there be such a thing?” she said aloud to no one at all as she looked
at what appeared to be a large clash of artistic handiwork.
The
landscape was littered with broken ideas smashed into each other
forming globs. The globs piled high into mounds of demolished
visions. Mound after mound of broken bubbles of hope and no
longer gleaming ideas. Pure and total rubble littered the
snow
covered earth.
Down on the ground the people had what appeared
to be an ongoing imagination argument. She flew up above
watching
people grumbling at people, fists waving in the air at one another and
ideas from imaginations popping out to fling at one another only to
have the existence of the creation extinguished, half formed never to
be thought of again.
The villagers were so mad and
ferocious! Words of hate flung out as fast as the
images of
create slammed together to be no more.
Screaming fights were enhanced by flying visualizations that met in the
sky clashing into each other.
Stay Tuned...
The Handiwork Clash will be published by Mid-May 2009
A Quick Survey
I
haven't yet decided on the artwork for the book - whether to make the
artwork reflect the story or to just leave it to the readers
imagination. I have worked out two different covers so far.
You
input would be greatly appreciated. Please read the excerpt
from
The Handiwork Clash above, then look at the covers below. Let
me
know if you like A, B or Neither. Thank you!

Reviews About The Bouncing Boy
“The
Bouncing Boy is the heartbreaking story about a boy that is lonely and
loveless. This story focuses on the unprivileged people who feel that
way. The author explores the inner self of a person who becomes an
outcast because of the peoples attitude towards him. The residents of
his small community ridicule him just because he is different. The
author manages skillfully to touch the readers heart with this
sensitive issue.
‘The
story of the Bouncing Boy, though sad and desperate at first, turns out
to be a story of triumph and forgiveness. The author depicts artfully
the moral psychology of a narrow-minded community all too well. Their
behavior could be common nowadays, thus this story applies to everyone,
let alone school bullies. Human beings can become quite cruel and
merciless at times and that is the fact the author highlights in this
book. There is also a solution to the problem: showing compassion and
kindness is the key to happiness.
‘The
Bouncing Boy is undoubtedly a story that deserves the readers
attention. It caters to everyone in the family, not just the young
ones.” L.M.
“There
are a lot of good points to be said about The Bouncing Boy. There were
at least five ‘messages’ I picked up on in the story: (1) Nobody likes
a slob, (2) Nobody likes unkind people, (3) There’s good in everyone,
(4) It’s good to have worthy goals and achieve them, and (5) Forgive
and be forgiven. And the story turned out to be quite a creative
adventure. As I read the last page and closed the book I said
to
myself - this book is a piece of artwork. It is something original and
full of creativity.” M.T.
“The
book is an adventure that kept me riveted as to how the story would
proceed. I couldn't believe the adventures and episodes the 2 main
characters went through to handle a bad situation in the community and
a personal situation with one of the characters. Lots of suspense,
determination, foresight and courage. A successful happy ending. A
story that many can relate to!” N.L.
“The
Bouncing Boy to me is an amazing modern day fairy tale. Most people can
relate to the main character Jack who has the misfortune of being
rotund. As well as being without parents, which leads to lack
of
manners as well as terrible hygiene. At some point
in life
everyone has been made fun of and yes, has even done their fair share
of making fun.
‘Also
this fairy tale teaches some morals that are non existent, as I have
noticed in my daily life. It seems like more and more people
are
not as obedient to parents as well as elders. The people whom deserve
the most respect to their progression of age and the wisdom that goes
along with life experiences.
‘An
amazing tale in which a boy overcomes the obstacles thrown at him, such
as, obesity, the constant ridicule of being rude and smelly, and the
growing up of a young man who doubted himself. This story gives new
meaning to the phrase anything is possible as long as you set your mind
to it.
‘All
good things come to an end, Jack no longer is the “bouncing boy”, he
turns into what he should be, a handsome man. As well as saving the
town from itself and diverts a terrible stinky situation in which in a
way Jack can relate to. Not to mention a friendship that will
last forever between The Bouncing Boy and The Elder.
‘This
book can be enjoyed by anyone ages 9 to 99.” M.H.
